About this place
The Shere Hills rise east of Jos to about 1,829 metres, placing their summits among the highest points in Nigeria. Weathered granite domes and boulder fields give way to grassland saddles, and the classic ascent rewards walkers with views across the Plateau to the escarpment edge. The range is used for training and organised climbs, and the air stays cool even in the dry season.
