About this place
Housed in a fifteenth-century Hausa building opposite the Emir's Palace, Gidan Makama is Kano's national museum. Its galleries run through the history of the emirate, traditional crafts, dyeing, weaponry and photographs of the old city, and the building itself is a preserved example of Hausa mud architecture with decorated interiors.
