The Calabar Carnival takes place in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, Nigeria. The city’s major roads become colourful parade routes where thousands of performers entertain spectators through dance, music, creative costumes, decorated floats and cultural performances. Activities are held at different venues across Calabar depending on the event. The parade itself is staged along the official carnival route designated by the organisers, while concerts, pageants, cultural exhibitions and entertainment programmes take place at selected venues throughout the city.
